La Van de Panchita is Asociación Grupo de Trabajo Redes (AGTR)‘s mobile unit, which travels to markets and fairs in peripheral districts of Lima, to provide information to women who are interested in working in domestic service and to promote dignified work in this sector.
AGTR’s team informs domestic workers – and the public – about Law 27986 (Law on Domestic Workers), and motivates them to visit La Casa de Panchita SAC, where they can be prepared and access the services of the employment agency.
This innovative contact and motivation strategy is carried out twice a week (usually on Wednesdays and Thursdays) since mid-September 2017 and will continue, at least, for a period of three years. The project will directly benefit 3,600 adult women, who will learn about their labor rights and benefits, will have access to a training program in domestic work and will have the opportunity to obtain employment with a written contract and the recognition of social benefits of according to law.
The route of La Van de Panchita is posted on AGTR’s social media and announced on its weekly radio program “No Somos Invisibles” (We are not Invisible”, which airs every Sunday from 8am to 9am on Radio Union 103.3 FM.
